In a major boost for the Chicago Blackhawks, the team has reached a mutual agreement with the Dallas Stars to acquire highly-experienced forward Jamie Benn. The addition of the veteran power forward is expected to bolster head coach Luke Richardson’s roster, providing leadership and a physical presence as the Blackhawks look to make a deeper push in the upcoming season.
Jamie Benn, a former Art Ross Trophy winner and longtime captain of the Stars, brings over a decade of NHL experience to the Blackhawks. Known for his toughness, offensive skill, and two-way play, Benn will immediately enhance Chicago’s top-six forward group while adding much-needed depth and experience to the young roster.
“We are thrilled to bring Jamie Benn to Chicago,” said Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson. “He’s a proven leader with a strong track record of success, both offensively and defensively. Jamie’s experience will be invaluable as we continue to build this team and develop our younger players.”
Benn, 35, remains an impactful player, known for his ability to score goals, set up plays, and contribute on both ends of the ice. His physical style of play has earned him a reputation as one of the most respected power forwards in the league. Last season, Benn registered 33 goals and 45 assists for 78 points, proving he still has plenty to offer.
The acquisition of Benn signals that the Blackhawks are serious about surrounding their young talent, including phenom Connor Bedard, with veteran leadership and complementary pieces. Benn’s presence in the locker room is expected to help mentor the younger players while his on-ice production can help push Chicago into playoff contention.
