Tennessee football and head coach Josh Heupel have been making significant strides on the recruiting trail. The Volunteers recently secured their place in the top 15 for the 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star offensive lineman Douglas Utu from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Utu is the 16th player to commit to Tennessee’s 2025 recruiting class and the seventh four-star recruit. Despite the typically slow summer months in college football, the Vols have maintained a hot streak, and their momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
Chad Simmons of On3 Recruiting has made an expert prediction that four-star linebacker Jadon Perlotte will flip his commitment from Georgia to SEC rival Tennessee.
Perlotte, a 6-foot-4, 215-pound linebacker, has been committed to Georgia since December 8, 2022. However, the Vols, along with other programs, have been gaining significant traction, leading to a possible switch. This speculation intensified after Perlotte posted a picture in Orange and White holding the BCS National Championship Coaches’ Trophy, accompanied by three smiling face emojis.

On3 ranks Perlotte as the No. 160 player in the country, No. 16 linebacker, and No. 22 player in Georgia.
Perlotte has also received an expert prediction from On3 Sports to flip to Florida State. Although predicted to join the Seminoles last year, he chose to stay with the Bulldogs.
The Vols entered Perlotte’s recruitment in June when he visited the campus on June 14. He followed this visit with another trip to Athens but is now expected to flip to Tennessee after seeing both campuses last month.
If Perlotte commits to the Vols, it would mark the first major recruit for first-year linebackers coach William Inge, who joined Tennessee from Alabama. Securing a commitment from a consensus top-15 linebacker and top-200 player in the country would be a significant milestone in Inge’s recruiting efforts.
