Breaking: Auburn’s Four-star Freshman Donovan Starr Goes Viral For His First Comment to Head After His Arrival…

4-star CB Donovan Starr Commits to Auburn

Donovan Starr, a highly-rated cornerback, has committed to Auburn after an official visit this week. Starr announced his decision on Thursday afternoon, joining Auburn’s 2025 class.

Standing at 5-foot-11.5 and weighing 175 pounds, Starr is ranked as the No. 429 player, No. 35 cornerback, and No. 14 player from Tennessee according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite. He is also recognized for his athleticism, boasting a 100-meter time of 10.56 seconds and a 6-9 high jump.

Starr quickly developed a strong connection with Auburn’s defensive coach Wesley “Crime Dawg” McGriff, who offered him a spot earlier this spring.

“Coach Crime is a great guy,” Starr said. “He’s been incredibly supportive. Spending time with him, learning from him, and seeing how he takes care of me and my family really stood out. He made it clear that I could visit anytime, even midweek, which showed me I was a priority.”

After visiting Clemson, Starr had plans to visit Missouri, Illinois, and potentially Tennessee. However, his visit to Auburn solidified his decision.

“It was really about the people,” Starr explained. “Everyone here is amazing and very supportive. I spent a lot of time with Keionte, who was a great role model and shared a lot of valuable insights. Watching the players interact with each other made a big impression on me.”

Tenn. CB Donovan Starr Focused on Five

Starr is the third defensive back to commit to Auburn’s 2025 class, joining fellow cornerbacks Devin Williams and Dante Core. He is the 12th overall commitment for Auburn in this class.

Hugh Freeze, Auburn’s head coach, also played a significant role in Starr’s commitment.

“Coach Freeze is a great person too,” Starr added. “Meeting him for the first time was really cool. He took the time to talk to my family, which meant a lot to us.”
