Duke Basketball Adds Key man to 2024-25 Roster
The Duke basketball program has made another significant addition to its roster with the official signing of Maliq Brown.
With room for up to three more scholarship players on the 2024-25 roster, Duke’s coaching staff is actively pursuing additional talent through the transfer portal. Under the leadership of 36-year-old head coach Jon Scheyer, who has already enjoyed two successful seasons at the helm, Duke is poised to further bolster its lineup.
Brown, a former standout at Syracuse, joins Duke after committing to the program nearly a week ago. His addition was made official with a press release and social media announcements from the university. Standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 222 pounds, Brown brings a formidable presence to the paint, as demonstrated by his impressive performance against Duke in the previous season.
“We are thrilled to add Maliq Brown to our program,” remarked Scheyer, praising the 20-year-old’s skillset and contributions on both ends of the court. Brown’s statistics from his time at Syracuse speak volumes about his impact, averaging 9.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.2 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game as a full-time starter.
