Canadiens face huge setback as the 27-year-old star ruled-out with upper-body injury…

Dvorak is out with an upper-body injury, and Kovacevic returns to the lineup…

The Canadiens have confirmed that Christian Dvorak will be sidelined due to an upper-body injury, ruling him out for the upcoming game against the Lightning. Dvorak, a 27-year-old center, has contributed seven points (3 goals, 4 assists) in 25 games this season. Further assessments are scheduled for his injury.

In response to Dvorak’s absence, Johnathan Kovacevic is set to make a return to the lineup for the game against Tampa Bay. The 26-year-old defenseman has been a healthy scratch since his last appearance on December 22 against the Chicago Blackhawks. Across 33 games this season, Kovacevic has amassed five points (4 goals, 1 assist) with a plus-4 differential.

The Canadiens will adapt to Dvorak’s absence by playing with seven defensemen in Tampa. The matchup between the Canadiens and Lightning is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. ET at Amalie Arena.
