The Bills had been considered Super Bowl contenders in each of the last three seasons, but they made it to the AFC Championship Game only once.

This is a franchise that made it to the Super Bowl four straight times in the early 1990s but lost there each time.

At first glance, one would wonder why Buffalo is only 5-3 — they have an elite quarterback in Josh Allen, an elite wide receiver in Stefon Diggs, and other capable players on both sides of the football.

A negative for them is the injury that has knocked linebacker Matt Milano out for the season, but they cannot use it as an excuse.

Meanwhile, the Bengals have won three games in a row, and perhaps their QB, Joe Burrow, is back to normal after struggling mightily to start the year.
