The Bills Mafia sat on pins and needles on Tuesday to see if the Buffalo Bills would do anything at the 2023 NFL trade deadline.
Shortly after 3 p.m., it was reported that the Bills were indeed making a move. Buffalo would be sending a 2024 third round pick to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for cornerback Rasul Douglas and a 5th round pick.
The move made plenty of sense for the Bills for a variety of reasons. Douglas, 28, will replace Tre’Davious White as the team’s top cornerback. White was lost earlier in the season to an Achilles injury. Without White, Christian Benford and Dane Jackson had done a decent job, but Douglas is a significant upgrade.
The cornerback has a top-10 coverage grade at Pro Football Focus among cornerbacks who have played at least 100 snaps this season and he has extensive experience playing in a zone defense.
Rasul Douglas is 28, a really good CB right now, the smartest, toughest MFer on the team, and one of the very few veteran leaders you have.
His game will age wonderfully.
I don't get wanting to trade THAT guy. Bad for your culture.
