Michael Appleton reckons that Daniel Kanu is “making people stand up and take notice” after his four-goal haul for Southend United at the weekend.

Kanu, a young striker from Charlton, had recently been loaned to Southend and had an outstanding game, leaving the pitch with the matchball after scoring four goals in their 5-0 victory over Solihull Moors.

Appleton shared his thoughts about Kanu’s achievement in an interview with the South London Press, saying, “He’s done great and proven he is a goalscorer.” He also praised the loan system for providing opportunities for players to create a positive impression and make a statement.

Appleton emphasized that Kanu’s performance, including the recent four-goal feat and his previous goal-scoring contributions, is gaining him attention from various quarters.
