GOOD NEWS: Miami Football Confirm Big Boost With The Addition Of Three-star Talent A head Of 2024 Season…

The Miami football program has received a significant boost with the commitment of three-star cornerback Timothy Merritt for the 2025 recruiting class. Merritt is the first defensive back to join Miami’s 2025 class and marks the seventh commitment overall. Hailing from Birmingham Parker, Merritt is ranked as the 451st player nationally, the 37th cornerback, and the 18th player in Alabama for the 2025 class.

Standing at 6’2″ and weighing 180 pounds, Merritt brings impressive length to Miami’s defense. He chose Miami over offers from Arkansas and Tennessee, citing a strong relationship with Miami defensive backs coach Chevis Jackson as a decisive factor in his commitment.

Despite his commitment, Merritt still plans to take official visits to Tennessee and Arkansas in the coming weeks. This past weekend marked Merritt’s first official visit to Miami, though he has made nine unofficial visits to other programs, including Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

Prior to his commitment, On3 projected Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, and Auburn as the leading contenders for Merritt. His decision to join Miami reflects the efforts of head coach Mario Cristobal, defensive coordinator Lance Guidry, and defensive backs coach Chevis Jackson, who have prioritized recruiting cornerbacks with substantial length.
