Troubling Fitness Update for Auburn Tigers: High-Rated RB Brian Battie Injured in Shooting

Senior Auburn Tigers running back Brian Battie was among five individuals injured during a shooting in Sarasota, Florida, as reported by WSFA.

The incident occurred in the 3400 block of 17th Street in Sarasota at approximately 3:30 AM on Saturday morning.

Tragically, Battie’s brother, Tommie L. Battle, a former Braden River High School football player, was pronounced dead at the scene. The four others injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their conditions remain unknown at this time.

Authorities are investigating to determine the cause and motive behind the shooting.

Auburn University has acknowledged Battie’s injury and is actively seeking more details about the incident.

“We are aware of the situation and are continuing to gather information,” an Auburn spokesperson informed AL.com.
