Breaking News: The Las Vegas Raiders Finally Break Silence Amid Proposed Trade For The Young 4-Time Pro Bowl Cornerback…

Addressing the cornerback position has been a significant priority for the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason, but the team has taken a surprisingly relaxed approach to it. Despite the glaring need, they refrained from signing any notable cornerbacks and only picked one in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Nevertheless, the Raiders still have the chance to acquire a high-impact cornerback. The New Orleans Saints’ selection of Kool-Aid McKinstry in the second round suggests they might be open to parting ways with star cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

Dallas Robinson, from Pro Football Focus, proposed a trade scenario where Lattimore would join the Raiders in exchange for a conditional 2025 fifth-round pick, potentially escalating to a fourth-round pick based on playing time.

“Investing in a second-round cornerback might not have immediately hinted at a possible Lattimore trade,” Robinson stated in a column dated May 6. “However, as highlighted by Jason Fitzgerald of Over the Cap in March, New Orleans restructured Lattimore’s contract this offseason, paving the way for a post-June 1 trade.”

While Lattimore boasts an impressive track record with four Pro Bowl appearances at just 27 years old, injuries have sidelined him for a combined 17 games over the past two seasons, potentially driving down his trade value.

Despite rumors swirling around, the New Orleans Saints have not actively pursued trading Marshon Lattimore. General manager Mickey Loomis acknowledged the possibility but emphasized that they’re not actively shopping him.

“When you have a player of Marshon’s caliber, they’re not typically on the market, but sometimes you receive proposals that make sense,” Loomis commented on the May 3 episode of “Schein on Sports.” “I’m not actively seeking to trade Marshon. He’s an elite corner, and while injuries have hindered his recent seasons, it’s not something we can blame him for. That’s just the situation we’re dealing with.”
