Breaking News: Pittsburgh Steelers’ Decision Regarding Top RB Star’s Future Revealed!
In a significant move, the Pittsburgh Steelers have opted not to exercise Najee Harris’s fifth-year option, sparking immediate speculation about his future with the team beyond this season.
With Jaylen Warren still on the roster and no clear long-term strategy for Harris, rumors have begun swirling about the possibility of the Steelers considering a trade involving the star running back. Among those pondering potential destinations, FanSided’s John Buhler raised the notion of the Dallas Cowboys as a potential suitor, especially with Ezekiel Elliott returning as their starting RB.
Buhler suggested a scenario where Harris could head to Dallas in exchange for a fourth-round pick in next year’s NFL Draft.
“Considering the 2024 NFL Draft is behind us, acquiring Harris for the Cowboys could be financially feasible with just a slight premium,” Buhler commented. “While the Steelers might see Jaylen Warren as a long-term replacement for Harris, their current stance leaves room for speculation.”
Despite Harris’s impressive track record with three 1,000-yard seasons, the Steelers’ decision indicates a reluctance to commit to him long term. If Harris continues to perform well this season, he could potentially command a salary beyond the team’s budget. Conversely, if his performance falters, Warren may step up while Harris seeks opportunities elsewhere.
Given this uncertainty, the Steelers may be contemplating an early departure for Harris.
