In an exciting development for the University of Kentucky women’s basketball program, head coach Kenny Brooks confirmed the addition of a seasoned 6-1 guard to their incoming class. Jordan Obi, a graduate transfer from Penn, will join the team for the upcoming 2024-25 season, marking the eighth offseason acquisition under Coach Brooks’s leadership.

Expressing his enthusiasm for Obi’s arrival, Coach Brooks remarked, “I’m thrilled to welcome Jordan to our BBN family. Her wealth of experience and basketball prowess will undoubtedly elevate our team in various aspects. As a versatile player, she brings leadership qualities that will make an immediate impact.”

Hailing from Hartford, Connecticut, Obi boasts an impressive collegiate career, having spent the past four seasons at Penn from 2021 to 2024. Across 83 games, she showcased her versatility, averaging 13.7 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 0.9 steals per game.

Despite facing disruptions due to the pandemic during her freshman year, Obi’s impact on the court was unmistakable. Obi’s standout performance during her senior season earned her recognition from the Ivy League, securing her a spot on the First Team for the first time in her college career. Averaging 14.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, she emerged as a pivotal player for her team. Her impressive stats included shooting 43.3% from the field, 38.6% from beyond the arc, and an impressive 82.7% from the free-throw line.

Throughout the season, Obi demonstrated consistency, scoring in double digits in 22 out of 28 games, with six double-double performances. One standout game saw her tally a career-high 30 points along with 13 rebounds in a commanding victory against Merrimack.
