SAD NEWS: The Marlins loss another key player after his pathetic message…

Marlins Deal with Another Blow as Jesús Luzardo Lands on Injured List

The Miami Marlins faced another setback as they placed opening day starter Jesús Luzardo on the 15-day injured list due to left elbow tightness. This decision came just before the opener of Miami’s four-game series against Washington on Friday.

Luzardo first noticed discomfort during his routine throwing session the day before. Following this, he underwent imaging tests, the results of which have not been disclosed.

“I felt a little tighter than normal, I guess you could say, a tightness I don’t usually have before a start,” Luzardo commented. “It was more precautionary. I wanted to address it before it developed into something more serious.”

So far this season, Luzardo has struggled, posting a 0-2 record with a 6.58 ERA in five starts. However, he showed promise in his most recent outing against the Chicago Cubs last Saturday, allowing just two runs and three hits over six innings.

“There’s always concern as a pitcher, whether it’s a shoulder or an elbow,” Luzardo acknowledged. “But I’m not too worried about it. I think it’s just a bit of stiffness. Hopefully, with some rest and missing a start or two, I’ll be back on the mound in a few days.”

Luzardo’s injury adds to the Marlins’ pitching woes, with Sandy Alcántara and Eury Pérez already ruled out for the season due to elbow surgery. Additionally, Braxton Garrett has been sidelined due to a left shoulder impingement but is nearing a return after a minor league rehab outing on Friday.

Despite their pitching challenges, the Marlins made a playoff appearance last year, their first in a full 162-game schedule since 2003. However, this season has been tough, with the team holding the worst record in the NL at 6-20 as of Friday.

To fill Luzardo’s roster spot, the Marlins recalled right-hander Anthony Maldonado from Triple-A Jacksonville, who was set to make his major league debut on Friday against the Nationals.
