Montreal Canadiens have recalled another star player ahead of the regular-season finale…

Montreal Canadiens Bring Up Logan Mailloux from AHL!

Logan Mailloux has been cleared by the NHL to join the Montreal Canadiens, as announced Monday night ahead of their upcoming regular-season finale against the Detroit Red Wings.

The 21-year-old defenseman is set to make his NHL debut after spending the entirety of the season with the Laval Rocket in the American Hockey League.

Mailloux, a native of Windsor, Ontario, faced controversy in 2020 when he admitted to two charges related to sharing a non-consensual photo of a woman engaged in a sexual act. Despite his public request not to be drafted, the Canadiens selected him with the 31st pick in the 2021 NHL draft, drawing significant criticism.

Having played for the Swedish team SK Lejon at the time of the incident, Mailloux has expressed remorse for his actions, acknowledging his deep regret in sharing the photo with teammates in an attempt to impress them.

Following his suspension by the Ontario Hockey League in September 2021, Mailloux was reinstated and rejoined the London Knights in January 2022. In the AHL, he has demonstrated his skills with 14 goals and 33 assists in 70 games, earning an all-star selection this season.

The NHL released a statement affirming Mailloux’s eligibility for participation, stating their confidence in his acknowledgment of the seriousness of his past conduct and his commitment to making better decisions in the future.

Additionally, the Canadiens signed forward Luke Tuch to a two-year entry-level contract. The 22-year-old, standing at six-foot-two and weighing 209 pounds, recorded 10 goals and 20 assists in 39 games with the Boston University Terriers in the NCAA this season. Tuch, selected in the second round of the 2020 NHL draft, will conclude the season with the AHL.
