Sad news: QPR confirms the departure of another experienced star this summer…

Unfortunate news emerges from QPR as yet another seasoned player appears poised to bid farewell to the club this summer, according to a report by West London Sport.

Osman Kakay, the proficient full-back, seems destined to depart from the club, having not featured in the squad since Boxing Day, slipping down the team’s hierarchy in the process.

At 26, Kakay’s contract is nearing its conclusion, with his status set to transition to that of a free agent by late June if no extension is reached. West London Sport indicates that it’s probable Kakay has already played his final match for the Championship outfit.

Manager Marti Cifuentes expressed his respect for Kakay’s contributions over the years, acknowledging his competence as a player. However, the intensifying competition for the right full-back position has rendered Kakay’s inclusion in the squad challenging.

QPR possesses alternative choices for Kakay’s role, including Reggie Cannon and Aaron Drewe, with Jimmy Dunne also stepping in recently.

Kakay, a product of QPR’s youth academy, boasts an impressive record of 88 appearances for the Hoops across all competitions, with 25 of those outings occurring in the current campaign, accompanied by two goals.

Having embarked on loan spells at Livingston, Chesterfield, and Partick Thistle in his early career to gain valuable experience, Kakay emerged on the first-team scene in 2020. Nonetheless, his playing time has dwindled under Cifuentes’ management.

For Kakay, parting ways with QPR presents an opportunity for a fresh start. It offers him the chance to explore new horizons, establish himself elsewhere, and secure more playing minutes.

As QPR continues its battle to avoid relegation to League One, they recently secured a 1-1 draw against Plymouth Argyle. Their upcoming fixture against Hull City at the MKM Stadium awaits, with the team currently positioned 16th in the table, holding a four-point cushion above the relegation zone with four matches remaining.
