“Really Challenging”: Woods makes honest claims to difficult start in second day at Masters…

Tiger Woods Faces Challenges in Second Day at Masters

As the 88th Masters resumed at Augusta National, Tiger Woods found himself grappling with setbacks at the outset of his marathon day.

Having been one of 27 players unable to finish their first rounds on Thursday due to inclement weather, the 15-time major winner completed 13 holes in one under par.

Play resumed at 0750 local time (1250 IST) on Friday, and Woods encountered early difficulties. He bogeyed the 14th after a clumsy chip from short of the green, followed by scrambling for par on the 15th due to another misjudged approach.

Woods then faced disappointment on the 16th and 17th holes, leaving birdie putts short, before dropping a shot on the last after failing to recover from a greenside bunker.

The 48-year-old concluded his opening round with a score of 73, leaving him just 49 minutes to rest or practice before his scheduled second round.

Meanwhile, Shane Lowry wrapped up his first round on Friday morning with two holes remaining, ending with one par and one bogey to finish one over par with a score of 73. Like Woods, the Offaly native had little time before heading back out for round two.

Max Homa, playing alongside Woods, delivered an impressive performance with a birdie on the 16th and narrowly missing an eagle on the 17th. However, a bogey on the 18th tempered his round, resulting in a commendable 67.

Nicolai Hojgaard of Denmark also shone on his Masters debut, sharing third place with Homa after compiling a solid 67.

However, former champion Jordan Spieth encountered significant challenges, facing the possibility of missing just his second cut in 11 Masters appearances. A quadruple-bogey nine on the 15th marred Spieth’s round, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the tournament.
