Despite Hull City missing out on a chance to narrow the gap on the top six against Middlesbrough, Boro’s head coach, Michael Carrick, remains steadfast in his belief that his side can clinch sixth place in the Championship. Following Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw at the MKM Stadium, they find themselves trailing by six points with only four games left.
Carrick’s assertive remarks should instill confidence in the Tigers, who, despite enduring their sixth consecutive home game without a victory, are still very much in contention. The clash at the MKM Stadium was an enthralling affair, with Boro taking the lead through the prolific Emmanuel Latte Lath in the fourth minute, only for Hull City to mount a spirited comeback, leading 2-1 at halftime thanks to goals from Jaden Philogene and Jean Michael Seri. Both teams are currently level on 62 points, trailing Norwich by six points. Norwich’s 2-2 draw at Sheffield on Tuesday night, despite being two goals ahead at halftime, presents an opportunity for Liam Rosenior’s men, who have a game in hand, scheduled against play-off rivals Coventry later this month.
