SAD NEWS: Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens shares worrying injury updates…

There’s unfortunate news emanating from Leyton Orient as manager Richie Wellens reveals distressing injury updates regarding one of their key players, Idris El Mizouni.

During their recent match against Peterborough United, Leyton Orient was compelled to substitute the midfielder due to an injury setback. Wellens disclosed that El Mizouni, on loan from Ipswich Town, is now facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines, estimated at four months. This setback deals a significant blow to the League One side, as they navigate their season.

Wellens elaborated on the situation in a recent statement on the club’s official YouTube channel, expressing the challenges posed by the absence of key players in the midfield: “He’s going to be out for four months. So when you lose your two physical players in the middle of midfield, (it’s tough).”

This injury setback holds more significant implications as El Mizouni’s loan spell with Leyton Orient approaches its end. With his return to Ipswich looming, it’s plausible that he may have already played his last game for the club. El Mizouni initially joined Leyton Orient in the summer of 2022, contributing to their successful promotion from League Two last season. He has since become a familiar figure at Brisbane Road, making valuable contributions to the team.

Since his arrival, El Mizouni has accumulated 89 appearances across all competitions for Leyton Orient, making notable contributions with five goals and three assists. However, with his contract at Ipswich set to expire in late June, the club holds the option to extend his stay for an additional 12 months, presenting a decision-making dilemma.

El Mizouni’s journey with Ipswich dates back to 2017, when he made 26 first-team appearances. Additionally, he has undergone temporary stints at Cambridge United and Grimsby Town to gain valuable experience.

As Leyton Orient faces their recent back-to-back losses to Lincoln City and Peterborough, their hopes for securing a spot in the playoffs this season have dwindled. However, they remain determined as they prepare to face Cheltenham Town in their upcoming fixture at home.
