GM explains why the NFL Rivals ‘Blatantly’ broke rules to trade Vikings’ experienced quarterback for the 2024 season…

The Atlanta Falcons have stirred controversy in their pursuit of Kirk Cousins, complicating the Minnesota Vikings’ efforts to retain the quarterback for the 2024 season.

During a recent episode of the “What the Football” podcast, Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk raised serious allegations against the Falcons, labeling their actions as “the most blatant case of tampering” he’s witnessed in the NFL. Florio emphasized the customary discretion exercised in such negotiations, but criticized the Falcons for their overt pursuit of Cousins.

According to Florio, the Falcons’ pursuit of Cousins didn’t end with securing his contract worth $180 million over four years, with $100 million fully guaranteed. Allegations extended to the Falcons allegedly utilizing their newfound relationship with Cousins to entice him into recruiting Darnell Mooney, a former wide receiver for the Chicago Bears, to join Atlanta.

Florio went on to accuse the Falcons of engaging in “tampering within tampering,” suggesting multiple layers of inappropriate influence. The openness with which these actions were allegedly conducted, according to Florio, demonstrated a blatant disregard for league rules and norms.

“Someone enlisted [Cousins] to recruit Darnell Mooney from the Bears,” Florio continued. “So you got tampering within tampering. You got multiple levels of tampering. [Cousins] just talked about it openly, like they just didn’t care. It was so blatant.”
