The Indianapolis Colts are eyeing L’Jarius Sneed, a cornerback from the Kansas City Chiefs, as a potential addition to their roster. The Colts, who struggled defensively in the 2023 season, are looking to bolster their secondary, and Sneed could be the perfect fit. However, acquiring Sneed won’t be easy or cheap, as he is expected to command a significant contract in free agency.
Sneed, a two-time Super Bowl champion, is highly sought after by several teams, not just the Colts. His aggressive playing style makes him a valuable asset, but he still has room for improvement, particularly in avoiding penalties. Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports has suggested that the Colts should pursue Sneed to add “proven playmaking” to their secondary.
The Colts have a substantial amount of cap space, projected to be over $72 million, which puts them in a strong position to make a competitive offer to Sneed. However, it remains to be seen if they are willing to meet his expected market value of a four-year, $65 million deal, which would amount to around $16.3 million per year.
Ultimately, the Colts may have to pay a premium to secure Sneed’s services, especially considering the potential competition from other teams. If they are serious about improving their defense and making a playoff push, they may have no choice but to make a significant investment in Sneed.
