Jake DeBrusk: “It’s a business, at the end of the day,”

The Bruins face a critical decision regarding Jake DeBrusk as the trade deadline looms. Evan Marinofsky and Conor Ryan analyze potential outcomes: Will he be traded?

What could they gain in return? Is retaining him the wiser choice? Recent remarks from DeBrusk hint at a possible contract extension. These factors and more are scrutinized as the team weighs its options.

Since the Christmas break, Jake DeBrusk has connected for eight goals and 14 points in 16 games. He has been incredibly effective lately.

DeBrusk pondered on Sunday, “It’s a business, at the end of the day,” when asked if he was interested in hitting the free agent market on July 1. “Hopefully, things don’t come to that. That’s kind of where I’m from, and I wouldn’t even want that choice. I hope [an extension of the contract] is completed.
