Liam Hicks, an alum of Arkansas State’s baseball program, is among the ten promising prospects from the Texas Rangers who have earned an invitation to the upcoming 2024 spring training. The former catcher, set to report on February 14th, has attracted attention from the reigning World Series champions following an outstanding performance in 2023.

Having competed in both High-A (Hickory) and Double-A (Frisco), Hicks demonstrated his prowess in 92 combined games, achieving a noteworthy.275 batting average along with 4 home runs and 45 RBI. His contributions included 82 hits and 7 stolen bases.

Building on this success, Hicks had a breakthrough in the Arizona Fall League, topping the charts with an impressive.449 batting average. Notably, he secured the third position with 31 hits and an outstanding 1.075 OPS.

Originally selected by the Rangers in the 9th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, Hicks has left an indelible mark on Arkansas State’s baseball history, ranking in the top 10 with a career.340 batting average.
