Swansea City’s caretaker manager, Alan Sheehan, demands “apologies” following his dissatisfaction with referee decisions during their match against Coventry City. Sheehan claims that Swansea would have emerged victorious if not for controversial refereeing choices for both of Coventry’s goals at the CBS Arena. Haji Wright’s goal, which equalized Liam Walsh’s opener, and Ellis Simms’ second-half goal, giving Coventry the lead, were points of contention.
Sheehan expressed feeling “hard done by” and criticized referee Thomas Kirk for allowing the Coventry goals, asserting that he expects an apology. He mentioned having already received a sort of apology. Despite the perceived officiating issues, Swansea managed to level the score with a stoppage-time free-kick.
The 37-year-old coach praised his players for their effort, especially after demanding a response following their previous 5-0 defeat to Southampton on Boxing Day. Sheehan acknowledged the team’s resilience, emphasizing their commitment until the end of the game. While expressing pride in his players, he highlighted the perceived mistakes by the referee as contributing factors to the challenging match against Coventry City.
