Hull City’s Chief finally breaks the silence as the Tigers makes a huge decision over the 22-year-old star…

Hull City is reportedly in discussions to secure the services of Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, a midfielder currently playing in the Turkish top-flight. According to reports from Turkish outlet TV 100, Acun Ilicali, the owner of the Championship side, has initiated talks to bring the 22-year-old back to English football.

Dele-Bashiru’s journey in professional football began in Manchester City’s youth ranks. However, without making a senior appearance for the Premier League giants, he left the club in the summer of 2020. Subsequently, he spent three years with Sheffield Wednesday, contributing six goals in 86 appearances across various competitions and aiding in the club’s promotion from League One to the Championship last season.

Entering the current season with his contract expired, Dele-Bashiru opted to join Hatayspor in Turkey. Since then, he has featured in 13 matches for his new club, finding the net four times and helping Hatayspor secure a respectable tenth place in the Turkish top-flight standings.

Now, there’s speculation about a potential return to English football for Dele-Bashiru, with Hull City expressing interest. The club, under the ownership of Turkish businessman Ilicali since January 2022, has already made notable acquisitions from Turkish clubs, including Ozan Tufan, Allahyar Sayyadmanesh, and Dogukan Sinik.

Reports suggest that Ilicali has entered into talks with Hatayspor, exploring the possibility of signing Dele-Bashiru. Meetings with the midfielder’s representatives have already taken place, indicating a serious intent to strike a deal. Fenerbahce, currently leading the Turkish top-flight, is also reportedly interested in the player, but they may postpone their move until the summer.

Hull City in talks over deal for Turkish top-flight midfielder

Dele-Bashiru committed to a three-year contract with Hatayspor, tying him to the club until the end of the 2025/26 season. This contractual arrangement puts Hatayspor in a strong position to negotiate any offers that may come in for the Nigerian international during the January transfer window.

For Hull City, acquiring Dele-Bashiru could be a strategic move. With Tyler Morton on loan from Liverpool until the season’s end and Greg Docherty’s contract expiring, reinforcements in the midfield may be needed. Dele-Bashiru’s familiarity with English football and his positive impact in the Turkish top-flight make him a potentially valuable addition to Hull City’s squad. Pursuing this deal could prove beneficial for the club under the management of Liam Rosenior.
