Derby County’s Max Bird is reportedly eager to secure a move to Hull City, a desire that has persisted since the summer, as per information from Hull Live. The midfielder’s potential transfer to the MKM Stadium was extensively rumored, with Hull City making two bids in an attempt to finalize the deal for the 23-year-old. However, these efforts were thwarted due to an ankle injury suffered by Bird in August, extending beyond the summer transfer window and preventing his ascent to the Championship.
Due to this setback, Bird’s playing time has been limited to just 11 league appearances, hindering his chances to showcase his talents ahead of the upcoming January transfer window. Nevertheless, it is anticipated that Hull City will renew their pursuit of Bird in the next window, posing a challenge for Derby County to retain him.
Derby County is actively seeking to keep Bird within their ranks, with manager Paul Warne expressing the intention to engage in discussions about a potential new contract before January. Although the club is not resigned to losing him, there is concern about the possibility of key players departing, including Bird and Eiran Cashin.
Warne acknowledged the inherent risk of losing valuable players during the January transfer window, a sentiment shared by many managers. Despite this, the club is not conceding defeat in their efforts to retain Bird, hinting at a possible contract offer.
