Joe Chapman shares West Brom fan reaction in St Mary’s after Southampton defeat
Joe Chapman has shared the West Brom fans applauding their players off the pitch despite suffering a 2-1 loss away to Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday 11 November.
It was a tightly contested affair which either side could have taken, and the second Southampton goal came against the run of play after the Baggies looked like they might nick it.
The travelling West Brom fans clapped the players off in a show of unity despite the end result, and it was a display of how united and together the club feels despite the issues off the field this season.
Not often a team is roundly applauded off in defeat. Speaks volumes. #wba pic.twitter.com/NUkDAJxUVM

Chapman shared the response on Twitter [11 November] with the caption: “Not often a team is roundly applauded off in defeat. Speaks volumes.”
Unity has returned
It was a hard-fought defeat away at a side that was expected to be dominant in the Championship before the season started. That fight is all fans really ask for, if they can keep a game tight and perform to their best level, the result is just an afterthought.
If you could pick out one thing about the current group of players at The Hawthorns it would be the level of commitment they show going into every game. Corberan has brought the best of that side of their game out, and it has shone through in recent displays.
A connection and belief between the fans and the players is always important at any level, and the respect paid by the travelling fans was a nice touch at the end of the game.
During what has proved to be a turbulent time for West Brom, the players are showing their grit and determination, and proving they won’t just roll over at the first sign of a setback. That’s the mentality Corberan brings and one that has spread throughout the club.
In other West Brom news, one Baggies loanee has made a decision on his future.
