Stoke City’s boss share injury updates ahead of Cardiff clash as he outlines his team selection challenge…

Latest Stoke City news from Clayton Wood ahead of Championship clash vs Cardiff.

Lewis Baker has returned to full training as he nears contention for selection for the first time this season.

The Stoke City midfielder, who captained the team last season, missed pretty much all of pre-season as he underwent knee surgery and it has been a long road back to fitness. Now the 28-year-old has just completed his first proper session with the first team group and although he might not be ready for the two remaining games before the next international break, he is not far away.

“Lewis trained with us today so that’s his first step back on the grass,” said Alex Neil on Thursday afternoon in a press conference ahead of this weekend’s home game against Cardiff. “It’s going to take a bit of time, it’s not going to happen in the next week or so, but he’s certainly making good progress.”
