Spanish Reinforcement: Jordi Sánchez Joins Wisła Kraków on Free Transfer
KRAKÓW, POLAND — Wisła Kraków has officially bolstered its attacking options for the promotion push, confirming the signing of Spanish striker Jordi Sánchez. The 31-year-old forward arrives at the Synerise Arena on a free transfer from Japanese side Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo, with the deal finalized on January 26, 2026.
A Return to Familiar Ground
Sánchez is no stranger to the Polish football landscape. Before his stint in the J.League, he was a standout performer for Widzew Łódź in the Ekstraklasa, where he scored 19 goals and provided 10 assists across 65 appearances. His familiarity with the physical nature of Polish football is expected to make his integration into Mariusz Jop’s squad seamless.
The Profile: Power and Presence
Standing at 1.90m (6’3″), Sánchez provides a different tactical dimension to the “White Star” attack. Known for his aerial prowess and ability to hold up play, he is viewed as the perfect complement to the league’s current top scorer, Ángel Rodado.
“Jordi is a player who knows this league’s demands and has proven his clinical edge in Poland before,” a club spokesperson noted during the announcement. “His physical presence and experience in high-pressure environments like the Spanish promotion playoffs and the J.League will be invaluable.”
