The Atlanta Braves just got a major boost in their quest for another postseason run.
In a thrilling development for Braves fans, manager Brian Snitker officially confirmed the return of 27-year-old Venezuelan superstar Ronald Acuña Jr., who is set to rejoin the team’s active roster after months of recovery and rehab.
Acuña, the 2023 National League MVP, has been sidelined since tearing his ACL early in the 2024 season. Now, fully recovered and eager to return, the electric outfielder is expected to make his season debut this week—an announcement that comes as Atlanta continues to battle atop the NL East.
“It’s official—Ronnie’s back,” Snitker said in a postgame press conference. “He’s been working his tail off behind the scenes, and we’re all excited to see him out there again. He changes the entire dynamic of our team.”
Acuña, who turns 28 in December, is one of the most explosive talents in all of baseball. In 2023, he became the first player in MLB history to hit 40 home runs and steal 70 bases in a single season, earning him MVP honors and solidifying his status as the face of the Braves franchise.
Sources inside the organization say Acuña looked “unbelievably sharp” during his final rehab stint in Triple-A Gwinnett, flashing his trademark power, speed, and defensive range. He will immediately reclaim his role as the everyday right fielder and leadoff hitter.
“This is the moment I’ve been working for,” Acuña said in a message posted to social media. “I’m ready. I missed this team, this city, and these fans more than I can say. Let’s go win.”
The Braves, already boasting a powerful lineup featuring Matt Olson, Austin Riley, and Ozzie Albies, now add one of baseball’s most feared weapons back into the mix—just as the summer grind begins.
Fans at Truist Park erupted when the announcement was made during Saturday’s game, with chants of “Ronnie! Ronnie!” echoing through the stands.
With Acuña back, the Braves are no longer just contenders—they’re once again looking like a team with championship DNA.
