In a move that blends football, national pride, and social responsibility, Jarosław Królewski, the influential president of Wisła Kraków, has officially launched the Wisła Legion Foundation. The initiative, described by Królewski as “another new flame for the Dragon,” is a bold call to the Polish military family—past, present, and future—to unite under the shared values of honor, resilience, and community.
The foundation’s title, Wisła Legion, is no coincidence. It draws inspiration from Poland’s historic legions, echoing a tradition of courage and sacrifice that has long been associated with the nation’s armed forces. For Królewski, this project represents more than philanthropy; it is a bridge between the football community and Poland’s military heritage.
“This foundation is not only about football,” Królewski said during the launch ceremony. “It’s about identity, belonging, and honoring those who defend our values. Wisła Kraków has always been more than a club—it is a symbol. With the Wisła Legion Foundation, we extend that symbol to the military family and the society that supports them.”
The Wisła Legion Foundation will focus on:
-
Supporting Veterans and Families: Providing resources, aid, and programs to those connected with the Polish military.
-
Youth Development: Creating opportunities for young people—especially children from military families—to access sports, education, and mentorship.
-
Strengthening Community Bonds: Hosting cultural, historical, and sporting events that highlight the connection between Wisła Kraków, Polish history, and the armed forces.
Wisła Kraków, known affectionately as The White Star and The Dragon, has been reigniting its identity in recent years under Królewski’s leadership. The new foundation represents yet another spark, not only to boost the club’s social footprint but to anchor it firmly in the cultural fabric of Poland.
The launch also came with an emotional appeal to the nation’s servicemen and women. Królewski urged the “Polish military family” to see Wisła Kraków as their home, promising that the foundation would act as a living monument to their service.
“The stadium gates will always be open,” he declared. “For every soldier, every veteran, every child of the Polish military—we want you to know that Wisła stands with you.”
The Wisła Legion Foundation is expected to begin rolling out its first programs in the coming months, with a series of fundraising events and community partnerships already in planning. If successful, this initiative could become one of the most significant social projects ever launched by a Polish football club.
For Wisła Kraków, the flame burns brighter than ever—on the field, in the city, and now in the hearts of the Polish military community.
