In a crushing blow to the Arizona Diamondbacks’ playoff hopes, manager Torey Lovullo has officially confirmed that one of the team’s top players has suffered a serious injury, marking yet another setback in a season already plagued by misfortune.
Speaking to reporters ahead of their upcoming series, Lovullo revealed that the player — whose identity is being withheld until further medical evaluations are completed — sustained the injury during a recent game and is expected to miss significant time.
“It’s heartbreaking,” Lovullo said during the press conference.
