In a move that has electrified Braves Country, Hall of Famer and legendary third baseman Chipper Jones is officially returning to the Atlanta Braves organization—this time in a pivotal leadership role as Senior Manager.
The announcement was made early Tuesday morning by Braves Chairman Terry McGuirk, who described the decision as a “homecoming for one of the greatest to ever wear a Braves uniform.”
“This is more than a hire—it’s a reunion,” McGuirk said. “Chipper is the embodiment of Braves excellence. His presence in the clubhouse and front office will have a powerful impact on our players, staff, and the future of this franchise.”
Chipper Jones, now 52, spent his entire 19-year MLB career with the Braves, becoming one of the most beloved and respected figures in the club’s storied history. A career .303 hitter, 468 home runs, and 1,623 RBIs, Jones was the 1999 NL MVP, an 8-time All-Star, and a cornerstone of the Braves’ dynasty years.
While Jones has served in part-time advisory and hitting coach roles since his retirement in 2012, this new Senior Manager position signals a much broader and more hands-on commitment. According to team sources, he will have input in player development, scouting, and organizational strategy, while also serving as a mentor to young talent across all levels of the system.
Braves fans reacted instantly and emotionally. Crowds began gathering outside Truist Park within hours of the news, with some chanting his name and holding up #10 jerseys in celebration.
“This is what we’ve been waiting for,” said longtime Braves fan David Miller. “Chipper IS Atlanta. Just seeing him back with the team in a leadership role brings so much pride and hope for the future.”
Jones himself appeared at an impromptu media session near the Braves’ dugout, visibly moved by the reception.
“I’ve always said this is home,” Jones said. “Wearing the Braves uniform meant everything to me as a player. Now, I’m honored to help shape the next generation of Braves the same way so many helped me. I’m all in.”
With Atlanta continuing to contend in the National League and looking to build a lasting dynasty around stars like Ronald Acuña Jr. and Austin Riley, the addition of Chipper Jones in an official senior leadership role adds not only championship pedigree but emotional weight to the organization’s identity.
As the Braves press forward in their 2025 campaign, one thing is certain—with Chipper back in the fold, Truist Park just got a whole lot louder.
