In a seismic move that has electrified the NFL landscape, the Denver Broncos have pulled off a blockbuster trade, acquiring All-Pro edge rusher Brian Burns in a high-stakes deal aimed at turbocharging their Super Bowl aspirations.
Multiple league sources confirmed Thursday that the Broncos finalized a trade with the Carolina Panthers, sending multiple draft picks — including a 2025 first-rounder and a 2026 third-round pick — in exchange for the 25-year-old defensive phenom. The trade immediately gives Denver one of the most feared pass rush duos in the league, pairing Burns with veteran sack artist Randy Gregory.

Burns, a two-time Pro Bowler, is coming off a dominant season in Carolina, recording 12.5 sacks, 25 QB hits, and 3 forced fumbles. Known for his explosive first step and relentless motor, Burns had long been the subject of trade speculation amid Carolina’s rebuilding efforts — but few expected Denver to swoop in this aggressively.
In a press conference shortly after the deal was announced, Broncos GM George Paton didn’t mince words:
