Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is reminding the baseball world why he’s one of the most dangerous hitters of his generation. Over his last 26 games, Altuve has been on an absolute tear, putting up staggering numbers that have fueled the Astros’ recent surge.
During this electrifying stretch, Altuve is slashing an eye-popping .358/.466/.684, racking up 34 hits, including 11 doubles, a triple, six home runs, and 27 RBIs, while also scoring 20 runs.
At age 34, the former MVP and eight-time All-Star is showing no signs of slowing down, displaying elite plate discipline, clutch hitting, and his trademark ability to ignite the top of Houston’s lineup.
“Jose’s playing like a man on a mission,” Astros manager Joe Espada said after Wednesday night’s win. “He’s setting the tone, and when he’s locked in like this, we feel like we can beat anyone.”
