Joseph Woll’s stellar goaltending, with 29 saves, propelled the Toronto Maple Leafs to a narrow 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators. However, Woll had to exit the game due to an injury in the third period after making a crucial save against Rourke Chartier.
At the time of Woll’s departure, Toronto maintained a 3-2 lead. Shortly thereafter, William Nylander extended the lead to 4-2 with a goal 6:57 before the final buzzer.
In relief of Woll, Martin Jones faced 10 shots but failed to make any saves. The Maple Leafs’ goals came from the sticks of Mitch Marner, David Kampf, Calle Jarnkrok, and Nylander. Jarnkrok’s goal, a wrist shot just 3:35 into the third period, marked the culmination of a three-goal spree for Toronto.
On the Senators’ side, goals were scored by Josh Norris, Jacob Bernard-Docker, and Claude Giroux. Goaltender Anton Forsberg made 18 saves for Ottawa. The game was a closely contested matchup that showcased the Maple Leafs’ resilience as they held on to secure the win despite Woll’s departure.
